Dentures and Partials

Dentures and partial dentures are cost effective, dental devices that are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures can be placed in your mouth and removed as you desire. They are made with natural looking teeth, a hard acrylic material and may also have metal clasps and/or a metal base.

The following is three common dentures:

  • Conventional Full Dentures- These are made when all the teeth have been removed and the tissue has had time to heal which can take several months. During this time you will be without teeth. Once your mouth has healed, impressions and measurements are taken of your mouth and sent to our lab to fabricate your dentures.
  • Immediate Full Dentures- Before your teeth are removed, we take impressions and measurements of your mouth, so our lab can have your dentures ready for placement on the day your teeth are removed. This allows you to have teeth right away, but may require more future appointments to adjust their fit.
  • Partial Denture- If you are only missing a few teeth, this is a great removable option for your mouth. The partial denture has clasps that wrap around your existing teeth and acrylic teeth fill the missing spaces.

Dentures can take some time to get use to wearing. They can also affect the way you eat and talk for a little while. With time and practice, your mouth will become accustomed to your dentures and they will feel more like natural teeth. Dentures may need maintenance and adjustments over the years to ensure a comfortable fit.
